AKOLA: A handicapped undertrial, Ganesh Kisan Bherane (35), who is an accused in the fake currency scandal here, has been hospitalised at the general hospital after he began a fast four days ago to protest the inconvenience caused to him in jail, the police have said. Bherane has been in magisterial custody and languishing in jail after his police custody remand ended recently.
Due to his disability, he needs a peculiar type of toilet to answer nature's call since two of his legs and one hand are not functioning. However, the prison authorities have been unable to meet his demands.
The accused has said that his health is deteriorating as he has been unable to answer nature's calls in the absence of a proper toilet as per his needs. The jail authorities have denied any inconvenience to the undertrial, though they confirmed that he has refused to take food and water since five days over his complaint.
